No Ordinary Crest

DOL-A-2628
Male Pileated Woodpecker

I was fortunate to have a Pileated Woodpecker (male) come by for a brief visit.
Most of us will hear this beautiful bird long before we'll actually see it.
Mouse click here and listen to its loud and bold bird call.  Sound credit goes to: Xeno Canto http://www.xeno-canto.org a website dedicated to sharing bird sounds from all over the world.

Great capture. That red crest is like a clarion call.

So impressive! And SO JEALOUS am I!!! I've been 'chasing' around south Texas to find one, and yet, after years of searching, nothing. Yet. I keep my hopes up.

I saw your pileated thumbnail on Fi's Our World and had to some view in 'full color' view!!!
