Ice Ridges

DOL-A-9566
Ice Ridge

The wave action and prevailing winds contribute to the growth of these ice ridges.  This is a
southerly view towards the United States.

It has to be very very cold for sea ice to freeze, and this winter has been ideal for it. Wonderful photo.

A beautiful photo! I love the water colour and the streaks of weather coming from the clouds.

When I saw the thumbprint it made me think of the water spouts we get on Powell Lake during storms roaring in from the southeast. Fortunately we don't get ice on our lake it is so deep and our freezing temperatures don't last too long (normally). - Margy

Fascinating. I've never seen waves that looked like this.
