Coastal Shore Birds

I just want to mention that our timing for leaving was impeccable.  It has been snowing and the air is frigid back home.

Awesome captures of all the beautiful birds and omg I have a Double Crested Cormorant at my lakes and they're so adorable.

Perhaps you can enlighten a city boy like me: why are these "nonbreeding adults?" Are they sterile? What is the benefit of this?

I guess I didn't pick up the sign. I'm still here. There are many plumages we don't see as birds migrate.
