I like watching herons. They are very patient hunters.

I had never noticed the front feathers that were so long and shaggy. I'm always amazed at the lightning speed they have when they pick something out of the water.

Amazing photos of this beautiful creature. I was happy to see one do a flyby up here the other day.. but we have no open water on the lake yet. Hopefully he didn't miscalculate his return.

I had first commented that the bird was strange looking, but it really wasn't.... Just the first photo with its front feathers all ruffled. Very beautiful. You really do have a way with capturing the beauty of nature.
