A Canadian Icon

This beaver was definitely an unexpected pleasure to see.  He was heading back towards the open water and I suspect home.

This is a repost for those who haven't seen it and for those who enjoy seeing life beneath the surface.  As some of you may already know, I use to scuba dive and take my camera underwater in a housing with strobes to capture some of the magic.

Have yourself a great day!

True silence is the rest of the mind, and is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment.   ~William Penn

Great Cormorant

Here's a poem that resonates with me.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disen…

Water Towers

Water towers are found worldwide.  In Canada, they're often found in rural communities.  Here are some water towers found in communities all within an hours drive from us.

They are not creative, or decorative as some are.  Do you have a water tower in your area?

Have a wonderful day!

Anticipating Winter

We are expecting some flurries and being so close to Lake Ontario we could also receive lake effect snow too.  With that information (presumably correct) at hand,  I thought this photo would be appropriate.  It also happens to be one of many favourites of mine.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I.

European Adventure X Naples and the Amalfi Coast

We left Mykonos with many wonderful memories and again beautiful weather.

We passed some beautiful land/water-scapes as we neared Naples.

Entering the harbour we passed a lovely lighthouse and a statue of a bishop with an inscribed blessing on its base.

The next leg of our adventure takes us to Naples where we travelled along the scenic Amalfi Coast to Positano.

Once again, we opted to arrange our own shore excursion with a private car and driver.

It works out to be cheaper than ship-based tours.  It is a real time saver and you don't have to deal with a bus load of folks.

The bonus is you have more time for yourself.  In short, it is personalized service.

We read the reviews on Tripadvisor and found them quite helpful.

After a wonderful breakfast, we met our driver on the pier holding a sign with our name.  Paolo our driver of AP Tours spoke English quite well.  The whole tour was outstanding.

I believe the photo's speak for themselves.
